Cell GroupsCell groups are an important part of City Church life. It is in these small groups that we see the day to day relational aspects of christian living blossom and grow. We are keen to place regular attenders of City Church into a cell where friendships can be made, pastoral cover given, and discipleship encouraged. Cells meet at various times and places across the city. Below is a list of current cells, however this is an area of real growth in our church life, so for the very latest list of cells and leaders contact us. Ignite Is a gathering which happens bi-monthly for those in their 20-30s. We often have supper together but also allow our lives to be shaken up / challenged by the Spirit of God. Michael Hunter leads this with Malc & Trish Morgan. StudentsLocated in the centre of the Holylands, a few hundred yards behind Queen’s University, our church building is in a hub of student life and activity. Our chance to engage our neighbours is further helped by our close relationship with Common Grounds café, on the side of our building. Whether through street-BBQs, late night street outreach, community clean-ups, Alpha courses, our weekly ‘Holy Grounds’ meeting …. we have ample opportunities and a burning challenge to offer the reality of Christ to a culture largely in denial and very much in need of ‘Life in all it’s fullness’. . WorshipRomans 12: “So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you, take your everyday, ordinary life and place it before God as an offering”.
In City church we realise that worship is more than a part of a service when we gather….it’s our 24.7 lives! Who we are, how we live, will all contribute to what song we sing! Our gathering is important and a corporate expression of praise and devotion is necessary. We want to be a joyful people cultivating thankfulness and expressing that in spirit and truth. Playing and singing are valuable assets and so are other art forms that help create a worshipful environment that those non-musical can be involved in.
Gavin Crooks oversees worship in city church with support from Trish Morgan and the rest of the eldership team. We currently have a number of gifted worship co-ordinators and a heart to raise up a younger generation to help lead in this area.
